1980 to present:  Employed with the Ohio Department of Naturals Resources, Division of Mineral Resources Management, as a Mineral Resource Inspector II.

Summary of Climbing Rappelling and Caving experience:

1992:  I was introduced into wild caving by Tim Brown, Todd Handley and Robert Handley. I joined the West Virginia Association for Cave Studies (WVACS) and the National Speleological Society.  I have caved in the U.S. and Belize, Central America.

My vertical experience started in the Caves of West Virginia.  I have rappelled the Water falls in Fullers Stream Cave (my first rappel), 50ft, and the Bowen drop in Organ Cave, 90f t.

1992:  I started my vertical rope career by studying and learning the single rope rappel, climb and safety techniques.  In 1997 I became a vertical instructor, teaching beginners the rappel and safety techniques of the vertical world. Rappelling classes are taught in the Old Man’s Cave area of Ohio, 120ft.  The New River Gorge Bluffs in West Virginia, 80 to 150ft.  Bone Quarry and Maxwelton cliff in Lewisburg, West Virginia, 100ft.  I have done training for the Local fire Departments, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and Ohio University of Zanesville.  We are currently in the process of constructing a 40ft Climbing/Rappelling Tower for the local BSA scout camp.

1994 to 1996:  Team member of the annual Bridge Day event, New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia, 876 ft.

1997 to 2002: Co-leader and assistant Rig master of the Bridge Day event.

2003 to present:  Team leader and Rig master of the annual Bridge Day event.

1996 to 2003:  Co-leader and assistant Rig master of the annual Whiteside Mountain rappel event in North Carolina, 750ft rappel.

2004: Leader and Rig master of the annual Whiteside Mountain rappel event in North Carolina, 750ft rappel.

Summary of Climbing Rappelling and Caving experience: cont.

1996:  Member of the Elcap expedition in Yosemite National Park, 2650ft.  

2001:  Co-leader and top rig master of the Elcap expedition in Yosemite National Park, 2650ft.

2004:  Co-leader and rigging coordinator for the Elcap expedition in Yosemite National Park, 2650ft.

1996 to present:  Rock climbing in the New River Gorge and Seneca Rocks West Virginia and local sandstone cliffs in Ohio.  Training consists of anchors and belays, climbing techniques, self rescue and safety, top roping climbs, multi-pitch lead climbs and multi-pitch rappels, etc. 

2004: Top rope climbing in Yosemite National Park

Work related training:

1997 to present:  Attend periodic training sessions in confined space entry and rescue in dealing with explosive and hazardous gases and low oxygen levels.  Also have some experience in Cave rescue techniques.

2001 to present:  Attend Federal Surface mine training sessions on Mine Safety, Blasting techniques and investigations, mine subsidence and investigation, Acid mine drainage, stream side management and restoration, buffer zone compliance and riparian vegetation restoration.  Sediment control structure and design certification.  Acid and toxic materials handling and disposal.

2003 - 2004:  Vice President of Extreme Rappels, LLC. (XTR) 

2005:  President of Extreme Rappels, LLC. (XTR).  Goal is to provide world class rappels to experience climbers and rappellers.
